WRC – The Tour de Corsica under the flood

The organizers of the Tour de Corsica find themselves in a complicated situation following the flood which hit the Isle of Beauty. The stewards had to cancel SS2 (Casamoza? Ponte Leccia) 43,69km long following flooding noted on the link and in the special. The Corte service park is also threatened and several structures have been damaged. Canal+ was not able to broadcast the special live due to the weather.

The first special of the event was still able to be contested. Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) shares its leadership position with a surprising Robert Kubica (Ford) who was nevertheless not satisfied with his car. Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) follows six seconds ahead Dani sordo (Hyundai) at 12 seconds. Mads ostberg (Citroen) and Elfyn Evans (Ford) are last within 20 seconds.

Stephane Sarrazin (Ford) is in tenth place between Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen), still struggling on the asphalt, and Martin Prokop (Ford). Stéphane Lefebvre (DS3) is 13th in front Bryan Bouffier (Ford).

Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) opened the list of retirements by damaging his suspension after contact with a point, a few hundred meters after the start.

In WRC2, Pontus Tidemand (Skoda Fabia R5) occupies the lead with 2”6 ahead of Craig Breen (Peugeot 208 T16) and 4"4 on Julien Maurin (Fiesta S2000).

The crews should resume competition from 14:47 p.m. with the 36,43km from Orezza. But the forecast calls for further showers.
