WRC – The leaders fall back at the Acropolis

Petter Solberg was the fastest to complete the 6,2km qualifying special located near Loutraki with a time of 4'11"976. The Ford driver therefore had the privilege of choosing his position on the road and opted for 14th and last place. The Norwegian hopes to benefit from a cleaned track without fearing reduced visibility by the dust raised by the competitors. “It’s a very good thing in mind, it’s even very important”, comments the poleman on wrc. Com. “The car is running well and should be competitive in this rally. I'm going to go back because even if it rains, the roads dry very quickly when the showers stop. »

The other drivers also followed the strategy of the 2003 world champion since his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala who failed by just a tenth will start just in front of the Norwegian. “There was a corner where I thought I was in first when I was in second and I went into third by mistake.”, deplores the Finn. “The engine lost momentum on the climb although I quickly got it back on track. We lost two tenths but it's a good result after all this time spent outside the car. »

With his third time less than a second from the scratch, Sébastien Loeb places his Citroën DS3 WRC ahead of the two official Fiesta RS WRCs. Evgeny Novikov (Ford) will start in front of the Alsatian after setting the fourth time in the qualifying special. Mikko Hirvonen chose tenth position after losing time in a big cross. The teammate of the eight-time world champion will start just behind Thierry Neuville (Citroën) and Mads Ostberg (Ford). Ott Tänak (Ford) will start from sixth place behind Martin Prokop (Ford), Nasser Al-Attiyah (Citroën) and Daniel Oliveira (Ford). the official Mini drivers Armindo Araujo and Paulo Nobre will be in charge of opening the road in the first special which will take place at 17:28 p.m. Paris time with the 25,24km Kineta special.
