WRC – Loeb: “I think we should forget Latvala”

Although the conditions have changed slightly this morning, the Ford drivers remain at the forefront with Jari-Matti Latvala at the helm of the Welsh event. The Finn has a solid lead of 22 seconds over his teammate Petter Solberg who still occupies second position at midday. However, the Norwegian will have to attack to counter the return of Sébastien Loeb who is only 3"9 behind the 2003 world champion. Despite a DS3 WRC suffering from a lack of grip and wearing out his tires prematurely, the Alsatian is looking to move up to second place.

“The grip was much better in the last two stages and we were more competitive. We had two hard tires, but we didn?t use them because the surface wasn?t dry enough?, comments Sébastien Loeb, who remains on five consecutive victories this season. “I think we should forget Latvala, who now has a good lead in the general classification. On the other hand, we are getting closer to Petter, we will try to take the advantage this afternoon. »

Mikko Hirvonen was particularly frustrated this morning by his lack of performance, with Mads Ostberg having a 30-second lead over the Finn after winning the first stage of the day. “The grip is much better on dry ground. This morning, I really pushed as hard as I could, maybe even harder than in Finland! I still wonder how we manage to stay on the road. We are still here and we will try to return to Ostberg. »
