WRC – Meeke heavily penalized in Australia

Andreas Mikkelsen will be able to breathe since the Volkswagen driver is no longer in a direct fight with Kris Meeke for third place in the Rally from Australia. While the Citroën driver was battling with the Polo R WRC Pointing to just one second from the provisional podium, the Northern Irishman received a one-minute penalty from the marshals for having cut the road to Valla (SS10).

Kris Meeke had enough of a lead to only lose one position, six tenths behind Mikko Hirvonen. However, the DS3 WRC driver will no longer be able to fight regularly against the Volkswagens who will be able to aim for the hat-trick at the end of the last stage.
