WRC – Mexico: Ogier keeps the lead, Neuville makes a mistake

Sébastien Ogier (VW) retained the lead Rally of Mexico at the end of the first stage. The Frenchman held on in the second loop against a Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) very aggressive until the Belgian went off the road in El Chocolate (SS8) after suffering a puncture.

Jari-Matti Latvala (VW) took the opportunity to gain a position and maintain a 13 second delay on his teammate. Mads Ostberg (Citroën) finds himself on the provisional podium in front of the Polo R WRC of Andreas Mikkelsen (VW) while Elfyn Evans (Ford) completes the top five ahead of Dani Sordo (Hyundai) and Martin Prokop (Ford).

Benito Guerra (Ford) and Lorenzo Bertelli (Ford) having also been trapped in El Chocolate, only half of the WRC competitors were able to complete the first stage. Despite the drowning of the FordOtt Tänak, M-Sport was able to get the Fiesta RS WRC back in shape for the second stage!

Yuriy Protasov (Fiesta RRC) leads WRC2 17 seconds ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah (Fiesta RRC). Nicholas Fuchs (Fiesta R5) completes the top three by several minutes. Stéphane Lefebvre (DS3 R5) is only ninth after stopping in El Chocolate.
