WRC – Mikkelsen so close to the feat in Sweden

Andreas Mikkelsen failed to resist the ever-increasing pressure at Rally from Sweden. The Norwegian crashed in the Power Stage where he was fighting for victory with his teammate Sébastien Ogier et Thierry Neuville. The Volkswagen driver ultimately had to settle for third position, still signing the seventh podium of his career in WRC, his second in a row in Sweden.

“We were on the limit until the last meter but we lost everything in the end. I never thought I could be disappointed with a podium », commented Andreas Mikkelsen, already third in the Monte-Carlo Rally held last January. “I haven’t had many in my career, but I had the opportunity to take my first WRC victory. Unfortunately, I spun and missed it. It's very disappointing at the moment but we can be proud of what we have achieved. »

Andreas Mikkelsen remains confident as he is in third place in the Drivers' Championship, tied on points with Thierry Neuville. « It's only a matter of time before I achieve my first success, I am sure of it. I would still have loved to finish on top after this fantastic three-way fight. We will do our best to be in the fight for victory again in Mexico. »
