WRC – Mikkelsen: an unexpected podium at Monte-Carlo

Andreas Mikkelsen allowed Volkswagen to start its 2015 season in WRC with a hat-trick won last weekend at Rally Monte Carlo. The Norwegian climbed to the last step of the podium at a good distance from his teammates Sébastien Ogier and Andreas Mikkelsen whom he could never worry. The Norwegian took advantage of the competition's mistakes to gain places by remaining more consistent than impressive at the wheel of his 2014 version Polo R WRC.

“It was definitely an incredible start for the team,” commented Andreas Mikkelsen. “You don't celebrate a hat-trick every day at Monte and I'm proud to have taken part in it. I would have been satisfied with a top five and this third place exceeds my expectations. The conditions were very difficult and it was the first time I had driven there with snow, ice and slippery asphalt. I focused from the start on finishing the race and it paid off. I learned a lot. It’s a dream start to the season. »
