WRC – Mikko Hirvonen rolls three times during practice

Three barrels to start the season. Arrived in France yesterday to participate today in tests on the sidelines of the Rally of Monte-Carlo, Mikko Hirvonen crashed off the road in his Citroën DS3 WRC. An accident visibly of no consequence for the driver and his co-driver, but not for the car, according to the Finn's confession posted on Twitter. “Well, I started off strong this year. Did we turn around during the Monte-Carlo tests? Jarmo (his teammate, editor's note) and I are ok, but can't we say the same about the car? » With the DS3 too damaged, Team Citroën Racing was forced to abort what was their final day of preparation before the official start of the season.

Contacted by our colleagues at Autosport, the Finnish driver returned to the circumstances of his exit from the road. “The accident occurred in a fast corner, perhaps in fifth gear,” explains Mikko Hirvonen. “We were at around 100 km/h on slick tires, and I didn't turn into the corner early enough. We then slipped in the slush and there was nothing I could do. We hit the mountain and rolled three times, I think. We are quite lucky because the car remained on the road. This is not the best way to start the year. »
