As we announced to you on August 23, Yvan Muller will be present at the Rally from France at the wheel of a Mini JCW WRC from Prodrive. The Alsatian will not be making his first attempt at the start of the Rallye de France-Alsace since the reigning WTCC champion had taken 42nd place in 2010 with the Citroën Xsara WRC and 31st in 2011 with a Peugeot 207 S2000. David Richards' team has confirmed that the Chevrolet driver will have a Mini JCW WRC this year and will compete alongside Dani Sordo, an asphalt expert who will constitute a solid point of reference despite the lack of testing. The three-time Touring Car Championship champion completed a day of testing with his future vehicle in July and will have an additional day of testing on the British structure's track in the week preceding the Alsatian meeting.
“I’m looking forward to racing at home at the top level of the WRC after my race last year in S2000.”, recognizes Yvan Muller, well on his way to securing a new WTCC title with Chevrolet. “I only have one day to get to grips with the Mini but the balance of the chassis immediately gave me confidence. Since my Chevrolet (Cruze operated in WTCC) and the Mini use the same 1.6l turbo engines, the performance is essentially identical. I'm sure it will still take me a little time to get used to the grades even if my goal is to finish in the points. »
