WRC – Neuville more reserved about his ambitions in Germany

Thierry Neuville almost scored his first victory in WRC last year by waging a sumptuous duel against Dani Sordo where the Spaniard finally emerged victorious, thus signing the latest success for Citroën Racing. The reigning vice-champion, however, believes that he will have more difficulty standing out during this contested edition next week. “We were close last year and I remember it very well”, comments the Belgian on WRC.com. “We had a puncture and missed a corner, but we were still able to finish with a good result. We don't have the same ambitions this year. We would of course like to win it, but we are not ready to fight for a podium every time. rally."

Despite learning Hyundai WRT which is only in its first season, Thierry Neuville could still stand out with his skills on the asphalt and his knowledge of the terrain even if he will still have to adjust the i20 WRC on this surface. “I was in the same situation last year with the Fiesta and I had no difficulty. I have always been an asphalt specialist and riding on this surface is very natural for me. I will quickly get into a good rhythm. The roads are narrow with many turns and dirty areas. Grip can often change and it is a test that presents quite a challenge. We can also have showers and the choice of tires is also important. You have to be well prepared but I think many drivers enjoy this rally. The fights are always close, which makes the event even more interesting. »-
