WRC – Ogier falls in Spain, Sordo and Latvala in the lead

The morning of the second stage of the Rally of Spain was marked by the puncture of Sébastien Ogier who was at the head of the event. The new world champion WRC lost a minute in the Colldejou special (SS6) after suffering a puncture in the middle of the course. “We hit something that was not in the notes,” commented the Frenchman who fell to 6th position 46 seconds behind new leaders Dani Sordo and Jari-Matti Latvala. The Spaniard and the Finn go head to head and return to service, sharing first place with a good lead over their pursuers.

Thierry Neuville completes the provisional podium even if the Belgian still had difficulty with the settings of his Ford. The Qatar WRT resident is more than half a minute behind the two leaders and no longer thinks he will be able to play for victory. Additionally, the pilot M-Sport remains threatened by the Citroën of Mikko Hirvonen who is only 9 seconds behind and the Fiesta RS WRC of Evgeny Novikov 15 seconds behind. Mads Ostberg, however, remains a good distance from Sébastien Ogier's Polo R WRC since he is more than a minute behind 6th place. The Norwegian remains under pressure from Martin Prokop who caught Hayden Paddon at the last minute for a lead of 2 tenths. Robert Kubica completes the top ten with a solid lead over Elfyn Evans. Andreas Mikkelsen retired after breaking his suspension when hitting a stone. The Volkswagen driver was in 9th place.

The crews will compete in the second pass of the stages of the 2nd stage from 14:33 p.m. Sébastien Ogier will start with the 42km of El Priorat. Click on this link to watch the videos of the Rally of Spain.
