WRC – Ogier ahead of Meeke at Wales Rally GB

With five scratches won in six special stages, Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) made a good start to Wales Rally GB. His only direct pursuer is Chris Meeke who stands at 13”5 at the end of the day after being the only driver to beat the triple world champion in the first stage. Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) remains in third place with a little more than eleven seconds ahead of Mads ostberg (Citroen). Dani sordo (Hyundai) completes the top five at a good distance from the leading quartet, preceding Ott Tänak (Ford) which took advantage of the hydraulic problems ofHayden Paddon (Hyundai) and punctureElfyn Evans (Ford) to take sixth place ahead of the New Zealander and the Welshman.

Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) is in tenth position, less than four seconds behind Lorenzo Bertelli (Ford).

Eric Camilli (Fiesta R5) took the lead WRC 2 following the puncture of Craig Breen (Peugeot 208 T16) which dropped to seventh place. The Frenchman is ten seconds ahead of Teemu Suninen (Skoda Fabia S2000). Yuriy Protasov (Fiesta RRC) completes the top three, one minute behind the category leader.

Following Quentin Gilbert's stop in SS6, it was Be Christian Veiby who took control of WRC 3.
