WRC – Ogier will have to resist the 1st stage in Mexico

Sébastien Ogier will address the Rally of Mexico in a challenger position against his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala at the top of the Championship. This situation works in favor of the reigning world champion since the starting order for the first stage is now based on the Drivers' classification. However, the Frenchman will still start in second position and will still have to undergo the sweeping phenomenon. “This year, it is obvious that the objective is to confirm the victory of 2013. One of our assets, last year, resided in the engine of the Polo R WRC. We had fewer problems than our competitors regarding loss of power at altitude. But we're all starting from scratch in 2014."

If the first stage only includes six special stages (and four super special stages), the first crews risk losing precious time in the 44km of El Chocolate which will be covered twice. “We will start second on the road, knowing that the conditions will improve with each pass. I am certainly better off than Jari-Matti (Latvala), but worse off than those who will leave behind me. I will therefore have to do my best on the first day, so as not to damage my chances of victory too quickly. »
