WRC – Ogier did the hardest part in Monte-Carlo

Sébastien Ogier seems to have victory within reach Rally Monte Carlo. While he was three seconds behind Sébastien Loeb (Citroen) at midday, the Volkswagen driver returns to service at Gap (Hautes-Alpes) with almost two minutes ahead of his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala suite to the misfortunes of the Alsatian who tore off a wheel in the last special of the second stage.

“It’s been a great day.”, recognized Sébastien Ogier at a press conference. “I was motivated by the great support from the spectators. The fight was intense with Loeb, with times where he was faster and vice versa. I was hoping to maintain the advantage at the end of the second stage before learning that he had made contact. I have relaxed a little but I am aware that there is still a long way to go. »

Sébastien Ogier is aware that he is now in a position where he has everything to lose. His management of the race will be even more difficult in this event with Dantean conditions with the absence of intermediate times. But that doesn't seem to bother the reigning double world champion. “I am preparing to face other formidable courses. Without intermediate times, I can only concentrate on what is in front of me. It didn't change anything for me because the driver I was fighting with (Jari-Matti Latvala) started only 30 seconds behind me.", added the leader of the Monte-Carlo Rally, who is once again seeking to defuse the duel between him and his former teammate at Citroën.

The crews will compete in the third stage of the Monte-Carlo Rally from 9:16 a.m. The videos of the event can be consulted here.
