Sébastien Ogier won his 6th victory of the season by winning the Rally from Germany, offering Volkswagen its first success on its soil. The people's manufacturer outrageously dominated the event by winning all the special stages, with the exception of SS18 won by Elfyn Evans (Ford), and thus won the hat-trick with Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen. The Finn won the Power Stage ahead of Kris Meeke (Citroën) and Dani Sordo (Hyundai).
Hyundai drivers complete the top five with Dani sordo in fourth place ahead Thierry Neuville. If the Spaniard and the Belgian put up a good battle during the first two stages, the Korean brand preferred to impose its instructions for the last day.
Elfyn Evans ranks sixth ahead Mads ostberg (Citroën) who suffered a final scare by spinning in the Power Stage. Ott Tänak (Ford) finished in eighth position ahead Hayden Paddon (Hyundai). Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) completes the top ten for its first event in the premier category of WRC finishing less than eight seconds behind the New Zealander.
Jan Kopecky (Fabia R5) dominated the WRC2 and logically won ahead of the French Eric Camilli (Fiesta R5) and Quentin Giordano (DS3 RRC).
