WRC – Ogier: “One of the most difficult rallies”

Sébastien Ogier was eagerly awaited at Rally Monte Carlo. In addition to being the last winner in the Principality, the double world champion had to face his former teammate Sébastien Loeb when they drove together at Citroën. The two Frenchmen engaged in a magnificent duel for first place until the nine-time world champion tore off a wheel in the second stage.

The Volkswagen driver then only had to manage his lead to score a third success in the Principality, taking no risks as proven his two scratches over the entire event. “This 83rd edition of the “Monte” is one of the most difficult rallies in my memories, as I was so worried about the conditions. The choice of tires was particularly complicated at the start. Then there was the exciting fight with Sébastien Loeb who achieved spectacular times on Thursday (first stage). »

Sébastien Ogier's performance is complemented by the podium of Jari-Matti Latvala and Andreas Mikkelsen, which allows Volkswagen to move to the top of the Manufacturers' Championship with 16 points ahead of Hyundai. “It goes without saying that I am also delighted with Volkswagen’s superb result. As long as I'm in first place, Jari-Matti and Andreas are my favorite ones to share the podium with! »
