WRC – Prodrive confident with Dani Sordo

After winning the Tour de Corse at the wheel of a Mini JCW S2000, Dani Sordo is preparing to return to the highest level with the Rally of New Zealand played this week. The Spaniard was able to benefit from the developments made by Prodrive on the Mini JCW WRC. “The Mini was very competitive in Portugal and I really have a good feeling about this new car”, assures the Hispanic pilot. “The car is particularly quick in the fast sections and I think it will suit the New Zealand stages well. However, our performance will depend a lot on our position on the road, with cold and rain possibly on the menu. »

Dani Sordo was on the verge of his 33rd podium in Argentina where he replaced the injured Jari-Matti Latvala in the Ford Fiesta RS WRC before retiring with an electrical problem in the closing super special. However, the Spaniard's performance was closely observed at Prodrive who seem optimistic for the next event of the WRC season. “We were really impressed by Dani’s performance in Portugal”, admits Dave Wilcock, Team Principal of the British structure. “It's the middle of winter in New Zealand and the fast sections which could well be wet should favor the Mini and Dani's driving. He showed what he was capable of in similar conditions in Portugal and proved he was one of the best drivers in the WRC by coming close to the podium when he contested Rally Argentina in a new car. »
