WRC – Sainz: Latvala will be able to attack in Mexico

Carlos Sainz stressed that it was still too early to establish a hierarchy at Volkswagen between Sébastien Ogier and Jari-Matti Latvala despite the Frenchman's good start to the season. The Spaniard is impatient to see the Finn evolve in Mexico.

WRC – Sainz: Latvala will be able to attack in Mexico

Sébastien Ogier had an almost perfect start to the season with Volkswagen in WRC since he won a second place for the first round of the Polo R WRC at Monte-Carlo and held Sébastien in check Loeb to win at the second meeting of the season at Rally from Sweden. His teammate Jari-Matti Latvala, who has much less experience in the car, is further behind with his retirement in the Monaco event which preceded a fourth place in Sweden.

However, Carlos Sainz believes that it is still too early to compare the performances of the two Volkswagen drivers. Sébastien Ogier has the advantage of having developed the Polo R WRC as he wishes for a full year and the competitors have not yet faced each other on the gravel which represents the main surface on the events of the WRC calendar and which will be there you of the next Rally of Mexico contested from March 7 to 10. “It’s too early to judge between Seb and Jari-Matti”, commented the advisor of the Wolfsburg manufacturer, reported by Maxrally. “So far Seb has done a fantastic job but he has been behind the wheel of the car for longer. After what happened at Monte, the team asked Jari-Matti to finish and score points in Sweden. It’s as important for him as it is for the team he joins at the finish. We will now be racing on gravel and I am sure we can give him a car that he will have time to gain confidence in and set up optimally to attack from the start. »
