WRC – Sébastien Loeb was on the limit in Finland

Sébastien Loeb will have been the sole leader of the Rally of Finland even if his teammate Mikko Hirvonen constantly maintained the pressure by failing just six seconds from victory. The eight-time world champion further increases his lead in the Championship with 43 points ahead of the second Citroën WRT driver after signing his fifth victory of the season (his fourth in a row). If the Alsatian did not arrive with first place as his main objective, he still worked to contain the attacks of the Finn who had come back to five seconds at the end of the second stage.

This new success for Sébastien Loeb can only delight the Championship leader who sees the title getting closer despite the five events remaining to be contested. “I’m really happy with this victory because I didn’t come here to win”, comments Sébastien Loeb who signs his third victory in Finland after his successes in 2008 and 2011. “I'm really happy to get this third victory against an opponent as tough as Mikko. It?s particularly satisfying after leading from start to finish. We attacked a lot, sometimes approaching the limit. For this, we needed to have a car that gave us complete confidence. The developments made this weekend on the DS3 WRC, particularly the shock absorbers, have allowed us to take a further step in terms of performance and ease of driving. »
