WRC – Sébastien Loeb wants a real victory in Sweden

Sébastien Loeb has started its partial season well in WRC since he once again dominated his competitors at the Monte-Carlo Rally. The Citroën driver will be at the start again Rally of Sweden contested next week, an event where he has only one victory in 2004 (the only non-Nordic driver to have won there) and three second places. This meeting is not the favorite for the Alsatian who is gradually beginning his retirement from the WRC, but he still wants to face these snowy specials again where he will have the advantage of not suffering from the pressure of Championship.

“I remember Yves Matton?s surprise when I presented him with the idea of including this rally in my program”, remembers Sébastien Loeb “It's certainly not the rally that has been the most successful for me in recent years, but that's precisely what motivates me. Honestly, our victory in 2004 was not particularly beautiful. We won because the others had problems. Since then, I have been trying to understand and tame these special stages. If I come back one last time, it is with the ambition to finish in style! »

If Mikko Hirvonen has two victories at the Swedish Rally, the Finn and his teammate Khalid Al Qassimi will have to secure a good result for the Championship. Dani Sordo will be a wildcard element for Citroën Racing to attack. “Even if I think I still have room for improvement on this terrain, I was on pace to get on the podium in 2010”, underlines the Spaniard who is still seeking his first WRC victory. “I will attack this event with the simple ambition of achieving the best possible result. Not being nominated for the Manufacturers' Championship will help me to be completely freed. »
