WRC – Sébastien Ogier gets off to a great start in Germany

He got off to a flying start. Sébastien Ogier already leads the Rally from Germany, having sent a message that could not have been clearer to his opponents from the only two special stages run this Thursday. On his Polo R WRC, the Volkswagen driver, who can be titled this weekend, made his mark from the first special by setting the best time while complaining about his car, which was too understeer. Only Jari-Matti Latvala and Thierry Neuville were going to manage to concede less than 10?? to the French on “Blankenheim”, a timed sector 23,56 km long.

Two hours later, the French driver continued by winning the second and last special of the day, “Sauertal”, much shorter than the previous one, 14,10 km. Latvala again took 2nd time behind his leader, just 1??1, while Neuville again completed the top-3, this time conceding almost 3??5.

It is therefore logically this same order which makes up the general classification at the end of this first short stage, Sébastien Ogier now counting 5??7 ahead of his teammate and 12??7 over Thierry Neuville. The first Citroën, driven by Dani Sordo, is in fourth position at 20??5.

Furthermore, Evgeny Novikov had a catastrophic start. The Russian and his Ford Fiesta RS WRC slid from the very start of the first special. If the car is not damaged, it was impossible for it to rejoin the road. He will leave this Friday.
