Sébastien Ogier emerges in the lead at Rally Mexico after being fastest in the two opening super specials. Mads Ostberg and Thierry Neuville complete the provisional podium.

WRC – Sébastien Ogier in the lead at Rally Mexico

Sébastien Ogier was the fastest at the end of the two opening super special stages of the Rally of Mexico disputed in town. Thierry Neuville signed the scratch in the Monster Street Stage Guanajuato (1km) while the Championship leader took control of the event in the 2,6km of Parque Bicentenario.

The Volkswagen driver is three tenths ahead of Mads Ostberg and six tenths of Thierry Neuville. Citroën drivers Mikko Hirvonen and Dani Sordo complete the top five more than a second behind. Chris Atkison is sixth, more than two seconds ahead of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC by Nasser Al-Attiyah and Evgeny Novikov. Jari-Matti Latvala is already more than six seconds behind his teammate while Benito Guerra completes the top ten ahead of Michal Kosciuszko and Ken Block.

Mikko Hirvonen, winner of the qualifying special held the day before, should benefit from the best position on the road starting from 13th place. Michal Kosciuszko will be responsible for sweeping the stages of the first stage, starting ahead of Martin Prokop, Benito Guerra, Ken Block, Nasser Al-Attiyah, Chris Atkinson, Jari-Matti Latvala, Dani Sordo, Sébastien Ogier, Mads Ostberg, Thierry Neuville and Evgeny Novikov 12th on the road.

The crews will compete in 11 special stages, for a total of 160,7km timed. The day will start at 7:23 a.m. (14:23 p.m. French time) with the SS3 of El Cubilete (21,9km) before the drivers reach Las Minas (15,3km), Los Mexicanos (9,8km) and El Chocolate (30,6, 1,2km). Mid-stage assistance will take place after the Street Stage Leon (XNUMXkm). The day will be completed by a second passage of the special stages and two super special stages contested at night.
