WRC – Sordo takes advantage of Hirvonen at the Acropolis

Dani Sordo was effective during the qualifying special of the Rally of the Acropolis, falling just one second behind the Volkswagen of Sébastien Ogier who finished first. The Citroën driver was able to opt for a good position on the road by starting from tenth position just in front of the Frenchman. If this result gives him confidence for the start of the event, the Spaniard is above all satisfied with the behavior of his DS3 WRC. “This is indeed a very good start. I had a good time this morning, but it's mainly my feelings with the car that motivate me. This is the most important thing before the start of a rally! The event begins with the longest special stage of the rally at 47 km. It?s a lot, but it?s a very beautiful area with three different types of surface. The second special, contested semi-night, will in my opinion be more complicated. »

His teammate Mikko Hirvonen was less cheerful as he selected his position on the road. After only finishing eighth at the end of qualifying, the Finn had to settle for fifth place and risks suffering from the sweeping phenomenon. The Scandinavian was nevertheless at ease behind the wheel of his Citroën, which made his poor performance all the more surprising. “I always find it a bit difficult to perform well on stages as short as these. However, I feel really good with my DS3 WRC. Maybe I'm pushing a little too hard and it's causing the car to slide? In any case, I'm surprised to waste so much time. As always in Greece, the dirt roads are very rocky. It will be difficult for the car and for the tires, but you will have to push as hard as possible from the first kilometers! »
