Towards a return from Germany and a candidacy from the Czech Republic?

Absent since 2019, the German round could return to the World Cup calendar, while the Barum Rally could enter the big leagues. Either way, there is no shortage of applications!

While the program for the next season of WRC is in gestation, the first rumors are flying. For example, there should still be no rounds in England and France, while Mexico is in the pipeline and the Australians are looking for solutions in Adelaide or Bathurst.

Another old destination could make a reappearance: Germany. Absent since 2019, the rally on asphalt would have a chance of coming back WRC. ADAC, one of the most powerful automobile clubs in the world (more than 21 million members) wants to restart the machine. The Bostalsee lake site would not be reused to set up the service park.

The latter would be based at the Nürburgring, which would host a GT round on the same weekend, which would make it possible to combine tickets for spectators. For the route, the special stages of the nearby Eifel massif would be quite selective, while the Baumholder military camp is only an hour and a half from the Green Hell.

A rally across three countries in the WRC?

Internal squabbles are said to have delayed the project and given rise to another proposal from the Bavarian Automobile Club. The idea would be to organize a rally in three countries: Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. This division, however, faces two problems. First of all, on the Austrian side, the response is slow in coming.

Among the Czechs then, the desire to one day see the Barum entered in the WRC on the model of Ypres (Belgium) is so strong that they will undoubtedly prefer to try their luck on their own, without the Germans. While waiting for concrete proposals, the WRC promoter knows that he has several possibilities, which could allow him to bring in competition and increase the number of meetings for the 2023 calendar.
