Ypres confirms its candidacy for the WRC

From confirmation of discussions between the promoter of WRC and several European rounds to integrate the revamped calendar of the World Rally Championship Faced with the coronavirus pandemic, announcements are increasing.

After Estonia and Lithuania, it is the turn of Belgium with the Rally of Ypres to officially apply so that the legendary flat country event reinforces the end of the World Cup season.

“It is of course a great honor to be asked to count for the 2020 WRC, comments Jan Huyghe, from the organizing committee. It is recognition for hundreds of volunteers and members of our club who dedicate themselves to our organization each year.

It is only thanks to them that we can organize rallies. This is the merit of our entire team. In addition, for years, the Ypres Rally has been praised throughout Europe for the quality of its organization, its experience and safety.

We are honored that the FIA asked us to do this and from that moment on, the Superstage Club moved into high gear to define a new route, contact the city of Ypres, the federation and other authorities, etc. »

This round on asphalt could thus be organized from October 1 to 4, potentially just before the German Rally, still kept on the calendar at present.
