Ypres replaces Great Britain in 2021

Fans rally Belgians will be entitled to WRC on their land in 2021. After a year 2020 where the Ypres Rally had been a time integrated in the face of the various overhauls of the calendar in the face of the pandemic before giving up following the deterioration of the situation, the Belgian round will be present this year in August.

The event will thus replace the British round, the course of which was expected in Northern Ireland, but which could not be validated due to the uncertainty linked to financing in the complicated situation faced with the pandemic.

The precise date has not yet been validated by the FIA ​​and the organization. “Of course we have to take into account the other dates on the 2021 FIA WRC calendar, comments Alain Penasse, President of the Superstage Club.

In August, we will replace the English sleeve. We also have to think about the availability of the Ypres Grand Place and the possibilities of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, where the GP of Formula 1. This is why mid-August seems ideal.

Following the cancellation of the rally at the end of October, we remained in close contact with the FIA ​​and the WRC promoters, but not without emphasizing that our event was ready to take its place in the WRC calendar.

Our team has proven that they are able to adapt quickly and deliver a WRC event in a short period of time. Generally speaking, we will again use the format planned for last year. It was clearly appreciated by the participants, as evidenced by the impressive list of registrations for the 2020 edition, which had 140 crews registered. »

11 rallies will make up the 2021 WRC calendar, including the arrival of Croatia and the return of Safari and Japan.
