24 Hours of Le Mans – Jenson Button will miss

Due to his commitments in Super GT with Honda and Kunimitsu Racing, the world champion of F1 2009 was unable to defend the colors of SMP Racing at the 1000 Miles of Sebring and will also not be able to take part in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (May 4).

The return of the 39-year-old Briton in the No. 1 BR11-AER was, however, planned for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 15-16). But according to our information, Jenson Button will not be there in Sarthe either.

Pregnancy of his wife or weariness of having to be content with accessits behind the two untouchables Toyota TS050 Hybrid? Whatever happens, he will stay home next June. Damaging news as he gave the impression of enjoying the experience last year.

It remains for SMP Racing to find a replacement. Brendon Hartley, who has already supported Mikhail Aleshin and Vitaly Petrov in Florida? NoThe New Zealander found a more attractive program and will even give up his place on the BR1 n°11 during the penultimate round of the 2018-2019 season of WEC, on the Ardennes slide.
