AJ Foyt was able to leave Baylor-St. Luke's Medical Center in Houston where he was hospitalized for a triple heart bypass. Almost 80 years old, the four-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, owner of the team that bears his name, had complications with his lungs requiring respiratory assistance for eight days.
“It was rough although I think I slept most of the time. I had concerns that most people who have open heart surgery don't have. But the doctors saved my life. My recovery will be long but I feel better every day”, commented the winner of the 24 1983 Hours of Daytona.
