Red flag at 6H. from Watkins Glen

The 6H. of Watkins Glen are interrupted under red flag for 30 minutes, because thunderstorms broke out less than 15 miles from the New York circuit, in a situation similar to that which the WEC experienced at the 1000 Miles of Sebring last March. The timer continues to count down with less than 1h30 left in the race. If the race were to end there, the Meyer Shank Racing of Tom Blomqvist and Oliver Jarvis would be declared the winner ahead of the Wayne Taylor Racing of Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque and the No. 01 Cadillac of Sébastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande.

The race had just been marked by the violent exit from the track of the #3 Lamborghini Huracan GT39. The Italian car found itself propelled off the track by the LM P2 of Fabio Scherer, the Swiss himself avoiding that of the Racing Team Nederland driven by Dylan Murry, hitting the rail a little further away, in a race similar to what happened recently in 24 Hours of Le Mans between François Perrodo and Alexander Sims' Corvette. The pilot is unhurt.
