A car race, whatever it is, is always complicated to postpone. But even more so when it is an urban event, as is the case of the Long Beach Grand Prix, supposed to be the scene, on April 17 and 18, of the third rounds of theIMSA SportsCar Championship andIndyCar Series.

If, as a first step, IMSA had announced the postponement of its Californian meeting to a date yet to be defined, it was confirmed yesterday that it would simply be canceled.

« The International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) has received notification from organizers of the Acura Grand Prix Acura of Long Beach, announcing that the event, which was scheduled for April 17-19, has been canceled for 2020.

IMSA and the event promoter have reviewed all possible options to conduct this race, but many factors make this impossible, including our races scheduled in the second half of the year.

We are already looking forward to returning to this iconic circuit next year. IMSA continues to work with its partners with the aim of finding an alternative so that the 2020 season is complete (implied keeps the initial number of rounds. Editor’s note). »

It remains to be seen what IndyCar will do.
