Agreement between Mercedes and Red Bull for Ben Hodgkinson

Mercedes announced this Friday, January 21 that it had reached an agreement with Red Bull for the departure of Ben Hodgkinson. “Mercedes F1 and Red Bull F1 today reached an agreement regarding the appointment of Ben Hodgkinson, specifies the German team. Under the terms of this agreement, Ben, who joined Mercedes in August 2001, will be free to join Red Bull Powertrains from May 24, 2022. This confirms the departure announced several months ago, in April 2021. “When Red Bull announced the creation of Red Bull Powertrains, it also heralded a new phase for the company in Formula 1: bringing all aspects of automotive design in-house and having our destiny in our hands,” then specified Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. Passed by the WRC then Ilmor (now Mercedes-AMG HPP), Ben Hodgkinson will become the technical director of Red Bull Powertrains, the engine department of the Austrian team.
