The weather conditions have not calmed down in Montreal for the Free Practice 3 session where Fernando Alonso set the best time on the wet track. It was therefore in the rain that the drivers set off for an extremely tricky Q1, with a reduced visual field for everyone. On this wet track, the best time passed from one driver to another, with no one retaining ownership for very long. Halfway through the session, the trapped people's name was Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri), Sebastian Vettel, Lance stroll (Aston Martin) and Nicholas latifi (Williams).
The Mexican, second in the Drivers' Championship, quickly got out of this red zone, but without a big margin over Alex Albon (Williams). The Thai moved up the rankings in the last minute, while Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) found itself in difficulty. The Frenchman was eliminated even though he had set the second fastest time in FP3 earlier in the day. Vettel, Stroll, Latifi and Tsunoda also take the door. At the top of the ranking is Max Verstappen (Red Bull) who set the best time ahead of a Fernando Alonso (Alpine) still in great shape.
