New chassis for Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Lando Norris (McLaren). The two former teammates each encountered mechanical problems after the second free practice session on Friday at the Catalunya circuit.
For Lando Norris, it was a wide exit after turn 9 which damaged the car from the British. The floor had been damaged, which forced his team to immobilize the MCL36 in the garage for the remainder of FP2.

McLaren eventually discovered damage also to the chassis during night inspections. Mechanics had to break a curfew overnight from Friday to Saturday to change Norris' car.
On Carlos Sainz's side, it was a problem linked to the fuel system which caused the chassis change. Ferrari also had to break the curfew to make the changes last night. No penalties were imposed for either driver.
