Comments reported in various media indicated criticism from Williams relating to the acceptance of engines Mercedes, whose components would be different from the versions used by the official team. Claire Williams reacted on the Twitter account of the eponymous team.
“Contrary to recent media comments, we reject suspicions regarding possible parity of power packages supplied by Mercedes-AMG (to its client teams Force India and Williams). We are absolutely convinced that these engine blocks are in every way identical to those used by Mercedes, both in terms of software and hardware. We have built an excellent professional relationship with Mercedes and our aim is to continue this work. »

Mercedes-AMG F1 immediately recalled on its Twitter account that its troops were working to provide the same engine to the six single-seaters equipped (the two W09s, plus the two Williams FW41s and the two Force India WJM11s).
