The world champion is narrowly ahead of his teammate Mark Webber (+ 0??012) while Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) follows at 0??03. Jenson Button (McLaren) and Michael Schumacher (Mercedes) follow at one second.
Jaime Alguersuari (Toro Rosso) went off the track at turn 9, slightly damaging the rear of his STR6. Pastor Maldonado (Williams) stops on the side of the track following a serious mechanical problem with his FW33.
