Pirelli Motorsport has confirmed the choice of teams and drivers regarding the distribution of tire sets for the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix (April 13-15). The two main rivals for the world title Mercedes et Ferrari thus made different selections.
The Italian team preferred a more aggressive strategy than the German team since Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen selected eight sets of ultra-soft tires, compared to six for the Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas.
The latter will, on the other hand, be able to benefit from two more sets of soft tires than the residents of the Scuderia. Esteban Ocon and Sergio Pérez (Force India) or even Charles Leclerc (Alfa Romeo Sauber) chose three sets of medium tires, the hardest compound brought by Pirelli to Shanghai.
