At Mugello, Lewis Hamilton imposed his law. Outstripped by Valtteri Bottas since the start of the weekend, the Englishman has set the record straight in qualifying to claim the 95th pole of his career.

He topped the timesheet with a time of 1’15”144. Only 59 thousandths separate him from his teammate Valtteri Bottas. Close to Mercedes, Max Verstappen was unable to do anything and had to settle for a third place which he is starting to get used to.

Excellent performance of Charles Leclerc. The pilot Ferrari was able to bring his SF1000 up to 5th position. Sixth, Sergio Pérez will move back one place due to his penalty, leaving his teammate Lance stroll take its place on the grid. Side Renault, Daniel Ricciardo et Esteban Ocon will start 8th and 10th respectively. Carlos Sainz is 9th.
