La Toro Rosso STR12 was found to have a dangerous element during pre-race inspections at the British GP held this July 16 at Silverstone. Stewards noted “one damaged wheel attachment” according to a note from the FIA technical department.
“The stewards warned Toro Rosso and asked them to replace her. The team refused to follow the instructions of the stewards”, specifies the report. After a new inspection, the commissioners noticed that several cut parts had been tied together. The team was therefore informed that the car was not in compliance with the safety standards required during the inspection. »
The Toro Rosso STR12 Carlos Sainz Jr should therefore not be allowed to compete in the British GP as it stands. The Faenza team will have to carry out more intensive repairs.
