The McLaren and the Force India were eliminated after Q2 of the Australian GP.
Fernando Alonso failed at a tenth of Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), last qualified for the final session in Melbourne. The Asturian was almost two tenths ahead of his teammate Stoffel Vandoorne. Lance stroll (Williams) finished in 14th place between the VJM11 of Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon.
Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) set the best time in Q2 with a lap of Albert Park completed in 1'21''944 with a tenth ahead of Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).
