The reigning world champion F1 was presented with the Laureus Award for Revelation of the Year at the 2017 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony, organized in Monaco.
The old pilot Mercedes is part of the list of sports personalities rewarded, alongside Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt (Laureus Award for Sportsman of the Year for the fourth time, thus equaling tennis player Roger Federer, tennis woman Serena Williams and surfer Kelly Slater).
American gymnast Simone Biles received the Laureus Award for Sportswoman of the Year and the Chicago Cubs, winners of the World Series in Major League Baseball, were named best team of the past year.
