For a fourth consecutive season, Pietro Fittipaldi will serve as reserve driver for Haas, during the 2022 season. The 25-year-old Brazilian driver was confirmed in his role as test (and reserve) driver, after having notably completed two Grands Prix last year, replacing Romain Grosjean.
“The decision to keep Pietro [Fittipaldi] as an official test and reserve pilot was very easy for us, declared Günther Steiner, boss of the team. Pietro knows the inner workings of our team very well, having been with us for so long now. He showed us last year that he is ready to take the wheel when needed and obviously his presence in the team this year has also brought continuity. We are excited to continue our relationship and look forward to having him on board again in 2022.”
“I am naturally very happy and excited again by the opportunity to continue my association with Haas, commented Pietro Fittipaldi for his part. I've been with the team for a few seasons now and they really feel like family. I learned a lot and I hope to continue to contribute with the introduction of the new generation of cars. Formula 1 in 2022. It's going to be exciting to see what happens with the new package and I'm obviously as excited as the rest of the team to see what the VF-22 will accomplish on the track. »
