Pirelli, official supplier of tires in Formula 1, has revealed the compounds available in Baku for the 2018 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which will take place at an earlier date this year (April 27-29) compared to the first two editions organized in mid-June.
The Italian manufacturer has opted for tender, super-soft, and ultra-soft. All drivers must carry a set of ultra-soft tires in case they advance to Q3. A set of soft tires and a set of super-soft casings should also be put aside for the race. The choice of the other 10 trains is free.
Pirelli has introduced two new types of tires this season with the arrival of the super-hard and the hyper-soft. However, these have not yet been nominated for a race weekend. As a reminder, teams must make their choices known to Pirelli eight weeks before the European rounds, and 14 for events outside Europe.
