Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) set the best time in this Q2 in Portimão ahead of his teammate Lewis Hamilton et Max Verstappen (Red Bull). Charles Leclerc for his part succeeded in his bet on medium tires and recorded the 8th time just behind Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri).
Only 10th, Daniel Ricciardo (Renault) narrowly reached Q3. His teammate Esteban Ocon did not have the same success and could not do better than 11th. Lance stroll (Racing Point), Daniil Kvyat (Alpha Tauri), George Russell (Williams) and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) are the others eliminated.
