The BMW-Sauber team is the first to adopt the system seen on the McLaren MP4-25: an air intake allowing a flow of air to infiltrate into the car, crossing it at the level of the engine cover and coming out at the base of the rear wing. This system allows, at high speed, to gain 4 to 7 km/h while losing a little in aerodynamic downforce and drag. This system should be tested during free practice in Melbourne, starting at 2:30 a.m. tonight.
