When Carlos Sainz win in Formula 1, George Russell is also involved… with an accident on the last lap. In Melbourne, the Briton lost everything by making a mistake at turn 6, which had already trapped Alexander albon earlier in the weekend. The pilot Mercedes followed very closely Fernando Alonso, in the fight for 6th place.
Devastated, the Englishman lost control of his car, before going straight into the gravel trap then into the wall of tires at high speed. The wreckage of the Mercedes then found itself in the middle of the track, hanging on its left side and on its left rear wheel. The marshals quickly waved the double yellow flag, then the Virtual Safety Car to slow down the peloton. George Russell emerged unscathed, but slightly shocked by this accident.
