Akkodis ASP already at the forefront during pre-qualifying at Hockenheim

Akkodis ASP climbed to the top of the timesheet during pre-qualifying at Hockenheim with the Mercedes-AMG n°88, championship leader, driven by Raffaele Marciello, Jules Gounon and Daniel Juncadella. It was the Italian who set the best time in 1'37″643 on the Hockenheimring. The track, wet in the morning due to showers, was completely dry in the afternoon for pre-qualifying and very busy from the start of the session.

The #88 Mercedes of the Akkodis ASP team beat the #66 Audi of the Attempto Racing team by only a tiny thousandth of a second. The #32 Audi of Team WRT completed the podium.

Fourth place in the general classification went to McLaren n°7 of Inception Racing, who took the lead in the Gold Cup category thanks to a time of 1'37″905, signed Frederik Schandorff. The Dane was at the head of a trio of McLarens, followed by the #111 of JP Motorsport and the #159 of Garage 59. The latter also leads the Silver Cup thanks to Nicolai Kjaergaard. SPS Automotive Performance took the lead in the Pro-Am category thanks to a time of 1'38″326 from Dominik Baumann.

Numerous spins took place during the 90-minute session, with drivers trying to find the limits in dry conditions. A red flag appeared just before halfway through the session when Dean MacDonald sent the #159 McLaren into the gravel. A red flag three minutes from the end of the session brought pre-qualifying to a premature end.
