« Since the start of my professional racing career in the early 2000s, I have always kept a close eye on NASCAR., explains Mike Rockenfeller. What's more, after teaming up with Jimmie Johnson – one of the heroes of the sport – my respect and appreciation for NASCAR grew. This is an extremely competitive series where some of the world's greatest drivers go wheel to wheel, inches apart. The margin for error is minimal, at best. Watkins Glen is a tough track for any car, but given the sensitivity and size of a NASCAR Cup Series car, I think it will be an even bigger challenge. »
This new experience in Nascar will allow him to further expand his already extensive CV. “ I had the chance to race in LMP prototypes, in DTM and in GT, but now I am ready to make my name in NASCAR. It is a great honor for me to drive the No. 1 NationsGuard Chevrolet Camaro ZL77, and I want to thank Spire Motorsports for giving me the opportunity to start a new chapter in my career. », underlines Mick Rockenfeller.
