At the end of a closing race contested on the Miami-Homestead oval won by Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski takes the championship crown in Nascar Sprint Cup Series. The protégé of Roger Penske won his first title in the discipline. Very well on his way to winning this closing round, Jimmie Johnson was forced to make an additional stop after a Hendrick Motorsport mechanic forgot a nut during a tire change. A few laps later, the five-time champion had to retire following a mechanical problem.
