Après Clint Bowyer (MWR – Toyota) lors de la première séance d’essais libres de l’épreuve routière de Watkins Glen (New York) c’est Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) qui s’est montré le plus rapide de la deuxième session disputée ce vendredi, avec une référence établie en 1’09″267. Le quadruple champion NASCAR ahead of another Chevrolet by 155 thousandths, that of Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) and the Ford of Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing).
Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota) and Joey Logano (Team Penske – Ford) climbed into the top 5.
