The Daytona 500 was stopped after just 39 laps following a violent storm that hit the Florida circuit. The weather conditions were deplorable, with a tornado warning even forcing spectators to temporarily leave the stands... Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) led the race ahead of Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports) and Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing). Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing) retired in the first laps following a broken engine.
